Favourite Things

These are my all time favourite pieces :-

This tapestry is hanging in our stairwell ,I love the french doors ,I love the colours and the texture ,when I paint my lounge/dining white I think I shall move it in to that room.

I bought this from a thrift store for $20 about 12 years ago ,The proportions are just right and the green background against the white flowers really work ,this will stay when the room is painted white.

We built our bar/pool room as an extension to our original house about 3 years ago ,after construction and after buying the all important pool table we had very limited funds for decoration ,the room is 10m by 7m so there was a lot of space to fill .
I was certain that I did not want a typical pub type wooden bar with brand/slogan pictures ,I had my heart set on a 1950's cocktail bar something that Doris Day might have in her home( I can dream) ,I found this almost straight away it was a bargan and I could not believe my luck ,the stools came with it and the quality is just amazing.

These are sentimental items not only are they beautiful but I inherited them from my my Grandmother when she passed away about 4 years ago.I think the cabinet is crying out to be painted white but I just cannot do it and of course the coffee table will never be painted ,I was close to my nanna and having these pieces to remind me of her is wonderful.

This cabinet is a great way to display items of value and not so much value ,really just more things that I love.

I am visting a few of my favourite things part with Laurie

  1. Thank you so much for you sweet comment on my blog. I am so glad that you left a comment so that I know you are out there reading it:)

I think it's wonderful that you have things from your grandmother. I have two pieces from my Meme and two pieces that were my husbands grandparents. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

  2. I'm so glad you found my blog, so that I could find yours. This post is beautiful. I'm SO glad you are not going to paint that gorgeous cabinet that belonged to your grandmother. It is breath taking just the way it is. Your bar and bar stools are so awesome! What a lucky find. I love blue and white, so that wonderful giant vase stole my heart. I'm so glad you linked this post to Favorite Things. laurie
